Drone Operation Requirements

All Shadforth staff who operate a drone for the purpose of taking photos on site are required to be registered with the Civil Aviation Safety Authority (CASA).

In addition to registration, the following is required for every flight:

  • A PTA Must be completed in Shadconnect
  • The Open Sky app, or CASA's ‘Can i fly here’ app must be checked and must verify your location is safe to fly
  • The area must be assessed  to ensure:
    • You are not operating within restricted airspace such as near an aerodrome
    • Wind conditions are appropriate
    • You are not flying over or next to a busy road
    • You will not be flying over, or within 30 meters of people
    • Visual line of site between, o the operator (you) and the drone can, and is maintained
