The below instructions detail how to use the Recording and Transcription feature in Microsoft Teams. Couple of key points before following the instructions
- The pre-requisite for this feature is a Microsoft Teams premium license. You can use transcription with the standard license, however you will not get the advanced summary features.
- For pre-scheduled meetings, the Meeting organizer is the person who needs to enable recording and transcription.
- For ad-hoc meetings, the meeting initiator (the person who starts the meeting) is the person who needs to do this
The below instructions detail how to enable Recording and Transcription in an ad-hoc meeting, or if you wanted to record a conversation in a room. Once complete, a meeting summary and review will be sent to all meeting participants in the Chat section of Teams.
- Open Teams and start a new meeting (Meet Now from calendar view)
- Start Meeting
- Turn the cam off but leave audio and mic settings as normal and click join now
- In the meeting go to More > Record and Transcribe, Start Recording (this normally starts transcription automatically)
